RESOURCES

We provide resources to ensure that people from all walks of life can keep their pets in their homes and OUT of the shelter!

To ensure your pet avoids a shelter trip, we strongly encourage all pet families to make a plan if disaster strikes.

1) Identify a friend or family member who can care for your pet if you fall ill.

2) Gather any supplies your pet regularly needs, like food, bedding, toys, a crate, medication, and have instructions prepared on their care taking routine.

3) Ensure your pet is microchipped and has a collar to help identify them.

4) Ensure your pet is up to date on vaccines in case they need to be cared for at a boarding facility.

We are slowly beginning to offer public spay/neuter appointments. We have very limited ability for dogs over 30 pounds. To join the waitlist for our spay/neuter services, please email outreach@harborhumane.org.

Our services are low-cost and we are happy to discuss pricing.

We work with all pet owners, please let us know if you are experiencing hardship.

Memorial Cremation
With a memorial cremation service, several pet companions are cremated at the same time. The remains are then interred on the grounds of Sleepy Hollow in Byron Center. Please note: when selecting a memorial cremation service, remains are not returned to you. There is no additional cost for this service.

Semi-private Cremation
More than one pet companion is placed in the crematory during the cremation process, but they are in separate areas of the crematory and remain segregated throughout the process – the ashes do not get mingled. As with the private cremation service, you will receive only your pet companions remains returned to you in decorative tin marked with their name, identification number, and a certificate of cremation.

Fee: $75 to $185 dependent on animal weight.

Private Cremation
As with human cremation, your pet companion is placed alone in the crematorium during the cremation process. Your companion’s remains are returned to you in a decorative tin marked with their name, identification number, and a certificate of cremation.

Fee: $165 to $260 dependent on animal weight.
