Volunteer at Harbor Humane
The lifesaving work we do would not be possible without the love and commitment of our volunteers. We are looking for compassionate and dedicated volunteers to become an essential part of our team. Volunteers reduce stress for animals, expand human-animal interaction, and help create stronger community awareness.

Volunteer Groups
Can’t fulfill the requested time commitment of being a monthly volunteer but still want to help? Consider bringing a volunteer group to Harbor Humane! From weeding out kennels to painting, we have so much that needs to be done to provide our animals with the most love and care possible. If you would like to bring a group to volunteer with us, we ask that you fill out this form. We are currently scheduling two months out, so please keep in mind that we may not be able to work with you at this time.
How many hours per month are required to volunteer with Harbor Humane?
We ask all volunteers for a commitment of at least six consecutive months, with a minimum of 5 hours per month.
Is there a minimum age requirement for volunteers?
Children ages 10 – 16 must submit a volunteer interest form, volunteer alongside a parent/guardian, and attend orientation. For children under 10, we recommend checking out our For Kids page!
What is the volunteer application process?
For new volunteers, start by filling out our Volunteer application form. After completing this application, you will be sent an email with orientation materials and a link to our quiz. This quiz will help us decide whether to proceed with your application. If we move forward with your application, you will receive a response within 10 business days and will be able to register for onsite training.
Can I volunteer without a monthly commitment?
While our standard volunteers must commit to at least six months, there are many other ways you can support Harbor Humane. You can help our mission through group volunteering, one-off events, donations, or online outreach.
What volunteer opportunities are available for kids?
There are many enrichment and volunteer opportunities for kids, including Junior Volunteer Club, Youth Camps, Reading With Fido, Petting Cats, and more. Learn more on our For Kids page.
