Sponsor A Heartworm Positive Dog

HW positive dogs are no less deserving of love and care than any others. To help ensure they are not overlooked at the shelter, Harbor Humane covers the cost of their complete heart worm treatment, including the cost of medicine (oral medication and sedated injections) and the time of our veterinarian team to administer. The average cost of treating a HW positive dog costs $250. Help us continue giving these animals their second chance at life and love by sponsoring treatment!

Corporate Partners

Serving as Ottawa County’s only animal shelter, Harbor Humane Society plays a vital role in our community as a leader in animal welfare and a community resource for nurturing the animal and human bond. Our shelter is growing, not only in space, but also as an influencer in our community. We invite your company to join us! Email marketingdirector@harborhumane.org to discuss partnerships.

Saving Lives Beyond Borders

Hundreds of animals are saved each year by being transported to Harbor Humane and out of their high-volume shelters across the country. Transports cost additional funds to provide the care needed when an influx of animals arrive and the logistical costs of transporting them here safely! Make a donation to support our ongoing transport missions, or sponsor an life-saving trip!

Email Developmentdirector@harborhumane.org to discuss upcoming transfer needs.

Leaving A Legacy That Saves More Lives

Ensure a loving, healthy environment for the many pets we will benefit in the future by including Harbor Humane Society in your estate and overall planned giving. By making this contribution, you will help support and promote the work of Harbor Humane Society, and benefit our animals by providing them a second chance at life and love.

Check out our conversation with Carey Koele of Koele Investment Group and Mary Jo Boerman of Boerman Law Office, where we discuss all the ways in which you can not only give back to Harbor through planned giving, but also plan for the future of your pet!

Your Planned Giving at a Glance | Estate plans, wills and trusts, retirement assets and life insurance are all meaningful options in considering how you can help us continue to serve animals in need, and keep Harbor’s mission thriving. There are options to give based on donation amount, age to give, or assets from which to give. It can be so easy! As little as one sentence in your will or trust could complete your gift. Until it goes into effect, you can always alter your plans to reflect your life changes!

A Timeless Commitment | It’s never too early to use your retirement assets. People of all ages have IRAs, 401(k)s, and 403(b)s, yet these are often overlooked when considering how to help. These options cost nothing now, but have a lasting impact on what fills your heart. Legacy donors are lifelong partners of Harbor, and will be recognized as such, for years to come.

Planning for your Pet | What can you do now, to prepare for the unexpected for you and your pet(s)? There are simple steps you can take, ensuring the care of your pet should anything happen to you.

– Have 1-2 friends or family members that are willing to care for your pet. Provide them with keys to your home, and the below info.

Keep a card in your wallet or purse with you pets information.

– Have pet profiles at home including food preferences, medical conditions or current medications, vet information and general behavior.

– Consider monetary funding sources to help provide for the future of your pet, if needed.

So, What Do I do Next? | While it’s great to have legal assistance and support to finalize all these details, this can also take time. Take some of the simple steps above for your pet, and if you have questions, we suggest you speak to your financial planner or attorney to discuss options. We’d also love to provide information for HHS, and keep in touch and learn more about your interests, passions, and hopes for our futures together – we look forward to it!

When you consider support, you become a strong and real advocate for the well-being of so many – now and well into the future. Your personal legacy will help save lives, and continue our mission, advocacy for animal welfare, and continued life-changing efforts. Be a part of Harbor Humane’s legacy circle today!
